Anacortes School District Mission
“We will serve as a lighthouse for public education in our community.” This means
the Anacortes School District will strive to the best of its abilities to provide leadership to: 1) inspire high student achievement, 2) nurture responsible citizenship, 3) create lifelong learners, and 4) ensure no child gets lost. The board and superintendent of Anacortes schools have joined with all staff, teachers, parents, and students to provide exceptional learning opportunities and support for our most valuable asset: our children.

Anacortes School District Facts
The Anacortes School District is located 16 miles west of I-5 (Mount Vernon) and 80 miles north of Seattle. The District is 25 square miles in size and enrolls approximately 3,000 students. There are approximately 380 certificated and classified employees in the district. The Anacortes School District has an excellent reputation and the student population, as a whole, scores high on state assessments and other standardized tests.

Bus transportation for Anacortes students is provided according to guidelines established by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, Transportation Department. Students eligible for school bus transportation are those living over one mile from school. Bus stops, routes, and times are published each fall in the Anacortes American newspaper. Local radio stations, KBRC and KLKI, announce Anacortes school closings or late openings when inclement weather prevails or online at www.schoolreport.org. The Anacortes School District also serves students living on Guemes Island who commute by Ferry.
